I am sort of at a loss I just read an article about a massive prayer rally to be held in the Motor City. One of the evils that will be "prayed on" is the rise of Islam. You know Islam that super evil religion that causes famine, droughts and plagues? Oh, wait, that was G*d in the Bible my bad...So back to my point Islam is the cause of everything from serial murders to splinters in baby's hands. And this benevolent group of Christians is going to help us all out by praying them out of the US and hopefully to the depths of hell. Yet I seem to remember a song lyric by a rapper who is Muslim. I think it went something like 'Jihad is not holy war where's that in the worship? Murdering is not Islam and you are not observant. And you are not a Muslim.' Well there is a lot more to the song but I will do like the media and just pull out the lines that are relevant to me. I just find it baffling that there is such a hatred for this religion. My father in law thinks that Muslims are the ruin of the world and he is a very intelligent man (except for the obvious dumbness of being racist). It makes me wonder how different things would be if we actually focused on the people that are really causing the problems....Its one of those "Things that make you go HMMMM.....?"

Well once again it is the disdainful taste of the actions of another that have brought me here to vent/rant/curse/scream. So unless you live inside the mantle of the earth (for those of you science challenged that is the area under the crust) you have heard or read or saw something about the PSU scandal. I won't rehash the public facts because they just make me want to vomit but I do want to talk about the general response to this horrible story. So let me start by saying I use to record all the old SVU episodes on TNT. You know those holiday weekend marathons? Well like any normal human being I am disturbed by the pedo story lines but like most viewers I probably can write it off in my mind as a T.V. show (since that's what it is) and sit through the end to watch Stabler beat the shit out of the bad guy while Olivia pines over Elliot's manliness; but I digress...What is really upsetting to me about the whole story are the following observations I have made - some of these have been articulated to others and some have not
1. Why the fuck didn't McQueary do something when he caught this guy
2. What football program is more important than stopping a pedo
3. Its one thing to cheat at football by paying players or turning a blind eye to "performance enhancers" its another to turn a blind eye to child abuse
4. How in the hell do you say "The letter of the law was followed, the info went up the chain of command"
5. Where's the sympathy for the kids? Some old man is getting more sympathetic comments then the poor kids

So all that said the following ideas are whispering and nagging at my brain...
If I had been in McQueary's shoes would I have called out right then or called 911 or whatever? I would like to think so but then again no one ever expects to witness something like that...this guy was probably his hero...maybe he froze, got scared or was in disbelief. Maybe he thought the dude would snap and go after him
Maybe he thought no one would believe him or there would be a cover up and he would get dragged through the mud
Did JoePa chalk this story up to some student trying to get a payoff from PSU - we don't know what was said to the coach
What father tells his kid to notify the college coach and NOT the police - that to me smacks of a culture of fear in the football program. Can't take a shit w/o JoePa's approval

Like I said these are just some thoughts tuggin at my brain. I would like to think that I would tear someones fucking face off if I saw anything even resembling child abuse but we live in a fucked up world where people sue good Samaritans that pull them out of burning cars....
